Returning Officers for the 10 geographical constituencies, the 28 functional constituencies, and the Election Committee constituency received a total of 161 nomination forms during the nomination period. In fact, since the nomination period began on October 24, the work of reviewing and confirming the eligibility of candidates has been proceeding concurrently throughout the entire period. The Candidate Eligibility Review Committee (CERC) also convened a meeting today and has completed the review and verification of the eligibility of all candidates. The CERC confirmed that all 161 candidates comply with the legal requirements and conditions of "upholding the Basic Law" and "bearing allegiance to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region," and determined their nominations to be valid. The Government will continue to work closely with the Electoral Affairs Commission to ensure the Legislative Council election on December 7 is conducted fairly, justly, honestly, safely, and in an orderly manner.” (Soundbite)(Cantonese) Hong Kong Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, Saying: “To enhance the public's and voters' knowledge and understanding of the candidates in various constituencies and sectors, raise public awareness, and encourage everyone to vote actively, the Government will host a series of "Patriots Administering Hong Kong, United in Heart" 2025 Legislative Council Election Forums starting tomorrow (November 11). There will be a total of 39 forums, including one for the Election Committee constituency, 10 for geographical constituencies, and 28 for functional constituencies. Candidates from each constituency and sector, as well as the public and voters, will be invited to attend. The forum format will mainly include candidate self-introductions, campaign team mobilization, question-and-answer sessions, and debates on specific issues. Candidates can fully demonstrate their election platforms, philosophies, and aspirations through the forums. We hope that through these election forums, every candidate will have an open and equal opportunity to present their platforms and philosophies to the public and voters, thereby enabling voters to consider making an appropriate voting choice. We encourage everyone to pay close attention to the performance of each candidate in the forums to deepen their understanding, so as to jointly elect on December 7 a new term of Legislative Council Members who love the country and Hong Kong, hold a firm stance, are capable, responsible, and passionate about serving the public. Thank you.” Journalists asking questions Hong Kong Chief Secretary of Administration, Eric Chan Kwok-ki and Hong Kong Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Erick Tsang Kwok-wai departing from the press stand-up session. 03:00 - 03:24 Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Erick Tsang Kwok-wai leaving after the press conference
