Thank you.” 00:32 - 02:34 (Cantonese) John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Saying: “Japanese leaders have openly made extremely wrong remarks regarding Taiwan, which has hurt the feelings of the Chinese people and challenged the post-war international order; this is something no Chinese person would accept. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lodged stern representations on multiple occasions, demanding the retraction of these erroneous remarks. The HKSAR Government supports the State's foreign policy towards Japan. The Security Bureau of Hong Kong has updated the information on the Outbound Travel Alert webpage to remind Hong Kong residents travelling to or currently in Japan to remain vigilant and attend to their personal safety. The Security Bureau will closely monitor developments and respond accordingly. Hong Kong airlines have also indicated that they will provide passengers travelling to Japan with convenience and flexible options for adjusting their itineraries. The extremely wrong remarks by the Japanese side on this occasion have severely deteriorated the atmosphere for personnel exchanges between China and Japan, and cast doubt on the potential effectiveness of many such exchanges. We will closely monitor all developments in this regard. Our arrangements must align with national dignity and the interests of Hong Kong people. We will continue to pay attention to the State's stance and policy in this regard, and ensure that Hong Kong people, including those in Japan, remain vigilant about their personal safety.
