Earlier, Mr Tsang tendered his resignation to me as Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs due to health reasons. After discussing with him in detail and understanding his situation, I made a recommendation to the Central People's Government in accordance with the provisions of Article 48 of the Basic Law. Today, the Central People's Government announced that, based on my recommendation, Mr Tsang is removed from the post of Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs. I thank Mr Tsang for his service and contributions to the Government. I also understand his health condition, and I wish him good health and all the best. I will identify a successor; in the interim, the Under Secretary, Clement Woo Kin-man, will act as the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs. Over the years, I have always done my utmost to perform my duties well, dedicated to serving the SAR and the public; however, amidst the high-intensity work, health issues have gradually emerged. Although I have undergone various medical examinations and taken medication as prescribed by doctors, my condition has not improved. After consulting with my family and doctors, I believe the best course of action at present is to step down from my position to reduce stress and focus on recuperating. Therefore, after completing the mission of the Legislative Council election at the end of last year, I contemplated the matter and finally decided to tender my resignation to the Chief Executive. Here, I would like to once again thank the Central Government and the Chief Executive for their trust, support, and guidance over the years, as well as the support and cooperation from all sectors of society. In the future, if the opportunity arises, I still hope to contribute to society in different capacities or areas. Finally, thank you all once again for your concern.”
